Man Eats Coke from Brother’s Ass, Dies

So you’re sitting in the back of a squad car with your brother on charges of drug possession. You know that you’ve got an ounce of cocaine shoved up your ass and you’re pretty sure cops are gonna find it when you get to the station. So what do you do?

If you answered “I’d have my brother eat the coke.” You would be in agreement with Deangelo Mitchell. And your brother would be dead.

Officersare saying that Mitchell, 23, convinced his younger brother Wayne to swallow the ounce in an effort to hide it from the police. Wayne died soon afterward. The older brother was bonded out on the possession charges but police are considering charging him with involuntary manslaughter.

So let that be a warning kids, Stay off Crack! Heh Heh.

But seriously, they’re dead. So don’t do it.

Craigslist Used in Deadly Murder Plot

Craigslist can be a great place for finding a new job, getting a good deal on used goods and finding escorts. But it can also be a great tool for luring someone out into a patch of deserted farm land and murdering them.

In a chillingplot straight out of a horror movie, middle-aged pimp and drug dealer Richard J. Beasley and his 16 year-old accomplice Brogan Rafferty lured an untold number of victims out to a patch of land they were told they’d soon be looking after. For $300 a week and a free trailer the applicants were supposedly to “watch over a 688 acre patch of hilly farmland and feed a few cows,” according to the Craigslist ad. The “farm” is actually owned by a coal company.

While over 100 people responded to the ad (which had been picked up by job posting aggregators) it’s still unclear how many victims there are at this point. So far at least three bodies have been found. The fourth victim, a man from South Carolina, managed to escape with a gunshot wound to the arm and was able to alert the police.

Authorities are still unsure of the motive behind the crimes, though some are speculating robbery, identity theft or even just simple blood lust. Beasley has not been charged in connection with the killings yet but is being held on other charges, including 15 counts of promoting prostitution and also selling the painkiller OxyContin. Rafferty has been charged with the attempted murder of Scott Davis, 48, of South Carolina, the aggravated murder of David Pauley, 51, of Norfolk, Va., and two counts of complicity in those crimes. Police want him tried as an adult.

Hillbillies Stage an 11 Year Police Stand-Off

Meet the Grays. Ever since patriarch John Joe Gray bit a police officer and tried to grab his gun during a traffic stop turned domestic-terrorism scare he’s been holed up on his 47 acre farm in Texas. That was 11 years ago and Gray refuses to leave out of contempt for the American government and the judicial system he doesn’t believe applies to him.

There used to be an entire militia guarding his homestead. Now all that remains are an untold number of family members (John Joe refuse to give the exact number). The faded and tattered warning signs are all that is left. The last vestiges of the longest American stand-off in history which shows no signs of stopping.

After the fated traffic stop in which police discovered automatic weaponry in Gray’s car, Gray showed up to one bail hearing, posted bail and then never returned. A letter arrived some time later informing authorities that they’d ‘better bring plenty of body bags’ if they wished to bring Gray in. He rallied his troops, his (now absent) militia and began living off the land. A practice he’s continued ever since – especially since his property has no running water or electricity.

Gray hasn’t paid property taxes since 1995 racking up a debt of $12,700 in back taxes and interest penalties. But police believe it’s too dangerous for deputies to serve notice of the suit filed in 2008, and until that happens, the case cannot proceed.

Yet years have passed and for the most part the Grays have been living a peaceful – if solitary – life on the ranch. Three sheriffs have come and gone since that traffic stop in that time and none of them have shown much interest in stepping onto the property. Although Sheriff Ray Nutt acknowledges that a peaceful meeting could occur, so could a violent one and quite frankly, nobody really seems to care all that much.

Not that some haven’t tried to resolve the issue. I want to quote this in its entirety:

Later, Chuck Norris, martial artist, actor, right-wing Christian book author and fellow Texan, met with Gray at his ranch and offered to get him free legal representation in an attempt to end the standoff. ‘There’s two people that family looks up to: Mel Gibson and Chuck,’ an intermediary said. But even Norris couldn’t resolve the impasse.

However should Gray ever steps off that property he will be arrested. Until then, the stand-off continues….

Parents Jailed for Starving Son Down to Just 37lbs

When the electrician first saw him the though he was dead. Tonya and Bryan Ricks’ 16-year-old son lay completely still, swathed in his own urine and feces. He didn’t even flinch when a fly landed on his face. Suffering from up to 12 seizures a day, the boy, whose parents had allowed to waste away to a ghastly 37 lbs. was bedridden, incapable of speech and unable to support his own body weight.

The boy, along with other five children, age six months to ten years, was also taken into custody in 2009. They had rotting teeth, brittle hair and alligator-like skin. They also suffered from viruses, infections, and many of the girls had asthma. When taken from the home, two of the girls were suffering from fevers of more than 100 degrees. One of the girls had a heart condition called ADT, a hole in the heart. The boy suffered from untreated daily seizures, numerous each day. Neither of the children could hold a fork, tie their shoes or even owned a toothbrush.

All children are now in the care of foster parents. The 16-year-old’s faster mother says that he has since gained 60 lbs. though he may never walk again.

Once they were before a judge the Ricks pleaded guilty and asked for forgiveness and remorse, neither of which the judge was ready to dole out, nor was their son. Their 16-year-old son wrote a letter asking for a lengthy sentence which was read out to the court on Monday.

“I’m hoping my parents go to jail for a very long time for what they did to me.”

They received a 25-year sentence or just about four years per child.

New York Has a Serious Taser Problem

A new study by the New York Civil Liberties Union shows rampant misuse of tasers by police officers throughout the entire state.

Basically cops in New York are just Tasing everyone and everything they can get their hands on. According to the study less than half of Tasering incidents actually warranted the gun’s use while only 15% of instances involved an armed suspect. Roughly the same percentage of usage reports involved clearly inappropriate subjects including people who were handcuffed or otherwise already restrained.

This could be due to a lack of formal training. The NYCLU says that a ‘vast majority’ of law enforcement agencies rely solely on the training information provided by the TASER manufacturers themselves with no model policies for their actual implementation.

The problem however could be worse than expected however as the NYCLU also suspects that most authorities are not properly reporting Taser usage either.

Woman Mistakenly Arrested and Placed in Prison for Two Months

Teresa Culpepper called the police one morning to report that her truck had been stolen. When police she was arrested for charges of aggravated assault allegedly committed by another woman named Teresa. Placed in Fulton County Jail, Teresa was eventually released when police realized their mistake… 53 days later.

It’s amistake that could happen to anybody really. Well, no, not at all. According to Culpepper’s attorney, Ashleigh Merchant the fact that she was mistaken for the other woman at all is completely befuddling. “Her birth date didn’t match. Her address didn’t match. Her description didn’t match. Other than the name Teresa, nothing matched.”

Police are looking into the matter trying to determine just how someone could be that stupid as to arrest the completely wrong person for no reason whatsoever. Culpepper meanwhile is naturally considering a lawsuit.

Self-Reported Drunk Driving Lowest in Two Decades

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention performed a study recently asking US adults if they’d driven drunk in the past month. Approximately 1 in 50 responded to the telephone survey saying that they had. A shocking confession to be sure but officials say drunken driving has fallen 30 percent in five years, and last year was at its lowest mark in nearly two decades.

Keeping in mind that these are all self-reported statistics (and who wants to cop to that?) – the CDC says that there were more than more than 112 million episodes of drunk driving in 2010. This figure is down from 161 million incidents in 2006. Hey, it was wild year.

Don’t let this fool you into thinking that citizens have gone teetotal. The CDC surmises that drinking is probably just as high as it ever was, people are just too broke to go out so they drink at home. Which is safer and yet somewhat sadder.
