It was just another night at Spelly’s Bar and Grille. A gas station cashier named Samuel Vanettes  was playing a game of darts with Riverside County sheriff's deputy Dayle Long. Aw, you suck at darts," a bystander said.

"That’s why I’m a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'

So he shot Vanettes .

Long had reportedly been at the bar drinking whiskey alone when he struck up a conversation with Vanettes who was there with his sister, her boyfriend and another friend. An argument broke out between Long and another man when Vanettes stepped in to act as a peacemaker. That’s when he was shot three times and left to die on the bar floor.

"You don't want to do this; you're a nice guy” Vanettes said. Minutes later he was dead.

If convicted, Long could face 50 years to life behind bars.
